CHI SONO / ABOUT ME

My name is Ivan Gualtieri, a few years living in San Giovanni Bianco average Brembana Valley, province of Bergamo. Thanks to the proximity of the Alps Orobie I rediscovered the pleasure of walking in nature and marvel at its beauty.

My passion for photography has distant origins: more or less 10 years as a birthday present I asked for my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic 77X with fixed lens and shutter. I still have some square photographs taken in the school trips with this unit: that chills!

At age 16 I felt that I wanted to do more than a few photos a couple of times a year, and especially with a device that would allow me to zoom in and choose the amount of light that really needed; so I got a film camera, a Yashica FX3 Super 2000 with its 50mm lens, 70-210 zoom, a 28mm wide-angle lens and extension tubes.
The quality of the shots has become significantly better even if the cost of film and developments, the long time between shooting and verification of the results, the lack of comparison with other amateurs, I was not allowed to self-learning the art efficiently .

Passed a dozen years had taken hold the digital SLRs but prices were still prohibitive for me, so with the arrival of the first baby in 2004 I decided to buy a decent quality compact camera for family use, the Canon Powershot A95. During this period, thanks to the distance from the mountains and the needs of small children, I was a little rest from walking and even landscapes from photographs.

Only after returning to the valley I started to attend the mountains, and these have rekindled the desire to photograph. With the progress of technology in 2011 I bought the Panasonic FZ100 bridge that connected the portability, versatility and cost optics still accessible. With this camera I really honed my skills bringing them to a level at least presentable.

Recently, with a financial commitment, I finally arrived to an amateur level digital "SLR" with some lenses: Sony SLT-A57, Sigma 10-20mm, Sigma 17-70mm and Tamron 70-300mm. Decidedly less "pocket" but no doubt with the final image quality far superior to the previous bridge.

Now I hope to discover new landscapes or revise those already known with new eyes and to be able to take good photographs.
